Crystal Bowl Healing: Randeane Tetu

Dec. 2004

We initiate peace on the vibrational levels and manifest peace in the physical levels. Sacred sound calls to the divine nature within us – that nature which knows peace is already here and can guide us how to practice it. According to Ted Andrews in Crystal Balls and Crystal Bowls, “Crystal bowl is a tool for the creation of sacred sound and the directing of it to restore peace within our lives.”

Everything in and around us resonates to sound. Sound used with intention can shift the energy in and around the body to help reestablish physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. In holographic sound healing, originated by Paul Hubbert, we use the vibrational sound of voice and crystal bowl, with intention, to assist the body’s natural healing ability, to nourish the emotional self, and to nurture the soul which knows its highest purpose.

Voice toning and quartz crystal bowls resonate in all the cells of the body to stimulate healing at a very deep level. The tones we use help release old patterning, balance the energy centers and energy fields.

This evening, Edie Jemiola, Paul David Solomon, and I have come together for a performance of quartz crystal bowl and voice toning. Greg Coleman, creator of Heartstone LabyrinthsTM, has brought his canvas labyrinths to place on the floor, and hang on the walls, and encourage people to hold.

According to Greg, “When we walk or trace a labyrinth, we are following a pattern which can harmonize and heal the patterns within us and harmonize us with the patterns which exist around us.” His labyrinths can help us focus our intention and move energy in beneficial ways.

Together the sound vibration and the labyrinths create a sacred space and the energy to enhance our intention of unconditional love, healing, and highest good. This evening, we give special intention to the quality of peace and, as the audience and performers tone together at the close, we send our intention of peace from our hearts by way of voice, out to encircle the world.

When Wendy brought the international peace belt to this labyrinth and holographic sound healing concert, I placed into her hands a prayer feather I had made. Thanking her for her service, I remember saying, “You have sent a voice. Thank you for your voice. You have sent a prayer. Thank you for your prayer.”

Greg was placing the labyrinths on the floor. Paul and Edie and I were placing the quartz crystal bowls on the labyrinth. People were arriving to walk the labyrinths and to find the places they’d like to sit or lie down for the concert.

I stopped what I was doing and placed a prayer rug on the floor, and Wendy and I created a sacred space for the cleansing of the belt. She spread out the belt, and I lost all sense of the other activity in the room. I offered tobacco in thankfulness and lit the sacred sage for smudging. With a feather, I smudged the peace belt, asking with my intention that any negativity it might have gathered in its year-long journey be cleansed, grounded, and transmuted by our Mother Earth into clarified healing energy. I offered Wendy the sage. The smoke of the sage as it rose, carried our prayers and intentions.

Now that we had performed the ritual cleansing, I invited the Spirit of the East, Spirit of the South, Spirit of the West, Spirit of the North, to join us in this sacred circle, to bless the events of the evening, to hold the energy of each direction through the ceremony to follow. Into the center of the circle, I invited Creator.

In the Native American tradition, prayer does not ask for something as if it is lacking, as if it is wanting, reinforcing that we don’t have it. Prayer gives thanks for whatever is wanted, as if it is already here. With full faith and confidence, the one who prays accepts that it is here, and we will now be able to see it manifest.

In this way, I prayed, saying, “Thank you for peace.”

Recognizing and honoring the peace given me, recognizing and honoring peace on this earth and throughout the realms of the universe, I prayed.

Knowing peace is given in abundance, and needs only our honoring and gratitude to manifest more fully, I prayed.

My intention invited all who might gather this evening:

Tonight, if you choose, you might notice and honor the divine nature in you that knows peace and send outward this knowingness and experience and intention of peace to the winged ones, the four-leggeds, the two-leggeds, those of the waters, of the air, of the earth. You might send that knowingness of peace, that gratitude of peace, to encompass dear mother earth and the heavens with thankfulness.

Then Wendy put the belt around my waist. I had worn my medicine bag for the smudging, but I took it off now as I released my identity to accept for a few moments the sacred calling of “carrying the peace belt.”

“What will the ceremony be?” Wendy asked as I stepped onto the labyrinth to take my place at my crystal bowl.

“If I knew, I would tell you,” I said. I knew the belt would receive and hold our loving intentions and the energy of the voices and crystal bowls. I allowed myself to be guided.

About 30 people were arranged sitting or lying across the center and around the edges of the labyrinth. I introduced Edie Jemiola and Paul David Solomon and myself, who would be toning with crystal bowls, and Greg Coleman, creator of the Heartsone Labyrinths ™ in use this evening. I introduced Wendy, who spoke of the peace belt’s journey. She said, “Two days ago, the belt was in San Francisco on its way home from Thailand and Viet Nam where it was honored by veterans at the battlefields.”

As Wendy spoke of its having been blessed by veterans on the battlefields in Viet Nam, a man seated next to me turned to me and said quietly, “I am a veteran.” He reached to touch the belt and as he did, I placed my hand on his arm. We could both feel the energy. If nothing else had happened that evening, I treasure this man’s prayer and healing.

And then the concert began. Edie and Paul and I toned with our voices and played the crystal bowls. Those on the labyrinth closed their eyes and drifted on the sound, allowing the sound to come to them, allowing the vibration to release old patterning that had already served them, allowing the sound to create the relaxed and peaceful state which facilitates the natural healing ability of the body.

And then I was on my feet. I stepped in front of my crystal bowl onto the small labyrinth that Greg had created especially for us to use at these concerts – the labyrinth of harmony – to harmonize our energies with each other and the labyrinth.

I danced – an ancient or future sacred dance, honoring the Creator and the directions, honoring the peace belt, its sacred mission and accomplishment.

I danced giving thanks for peace.

I danced the highest intention for dear Mother Earth and all her peoples – for the winged ones, for the two-leggeds, the four-leggeds, those of the waters, of the air, of the earth.

Paul later told me that as I danced, he saw the belt as a circle of white light and then, in the other dimensions, as light of all colors.

Connecting with the feeling of unconditional love and peace in their hearts, those attending joined us in toning peace, joined us in amplifying the peace in our own hearts, joined us in sending peace outward to the world, to all of creation.

At the end of the concert, I found Wendy, and together we brought the sacred circle to closure, thanking each direction.

Again, I said, “Creator, thank you for the peace. Thank you that we know how to use it.”
