AFWP In Nepal

In March of 2017, Founder/Director Wendy Black-Nasta, and Musical Director Dr. Robert Nasta, visited Kathmandu,

Nepal, to officially establish the Artists for World Peace Dr. Yoram Kaufmann Scholarship at the Kathmandu University

School of Music. Since 2013, AFWP has awarded a full tuition scholarship to an undergraduate student pursuing a

degree in Ethnomusicology. In addition to establishing the scholarship and meeting the current and past scholarship

recipients, Dr. Nasta gave lectures on Jazz and Blues at the university and at the Banepa Institute of Music and Art–

highlighted by a duo performance by Wendy and Robert.

The devastating earthquake in 2015 caused unrepairable damage to the school of music. We are happy to say that

through the tireless efforts of Professor Lochan Rijal, the restoration of a nineteenth-century temple, which will be

the new home of the School of Music, is underway.
