Artists for World Peace, Inc.

On May 20 and 21, the International Peace Belt came to Lower Manhattan as part of artist Donna Sylvester’s Laight Street Project.

In a sacred evening ceremony, preparations were made and intentions set for the procession to Ground Zero the next morning.

Descending into the newly re-opened PATH train station, there was an offering of song and silence made to the dead in the great void where the towers once stood. Two floors below ground level, in that wounded vessel, the presence of the Peace Belt held tremendous significance.

The procession continued in a walk of blessing and protection around Lower Manhattan. As an offering to the living, the Peace Belt emanated the healing power of its creative purpose.
