Nrityagram
Oct. 2003 Sara Morgues and Meghein UhrichPeace In Community
The Nrityagram community consists mostly of artists born throughout India, a country where each state’s ways of life, its language, religion and cultural practices, vary greatly from one another. Acceptance and allowance of individual differences is an essential key to human beings living together in harmony. A profound understanding of the self and the capability to work and live peacefully amongst diversity results from a deep sense of commitment to the greater good; Nrityagram is a fine example of the embodiment of this principle in action. Being a member of this community requires immense focus, dedication, and devotion to their beliefs and way of life.
Artists for World Peace and Nrityagram exchanged mutual blessings upon our recent encounter. We believe that each has imparted to the other its own unique gifts. We give thanks to Nrityagram for being an inspirational working model of intentional community, for their creation of a culturally rich and meaningful environment, and for their commitment to sharing their gifts with the world. We hope that the presence of the International Peace Belt at Nrityagram has enhanced their mission by transmitting to the dancers and the community its message of peace and unity amongst all people.
